Educational and Professional Background
Mrs. Garcia graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's in both Athletic Training and Movement Science. She started her career in Athletic Training where she worked both in physical therapy clinics and high schools. This was a very exciting career that focused on prevention, care, and rehabilitation of injuries, many related to sport. But her favorite part of this job was educating her patients about their bodies/injuries and how to care for them. So she returned to UofM to obtain her teaching certification in Physical Education and Health. A few short years later she obtained her Master's degree in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove.
As a teacher Mrs. Garcia has had experience working at Robichaud Jr./Sr. High School in Dearborn Heights, then made her way to Skyline in Ann Arbor the year it opened to start as both the head Athletic Trainer and PE/Health teacher. Eventually she "retired" from Athletic Training and worked full time at Skyline as a PE and Health teacher and was fortunate enough to teach level I and II Sports Medicine classes. After 5 years at Skyline, Mrs. Garcia was provided the opportunity to venture into the elementary level at Haisley! Although Haisley was a great school with great people, she found her way to Logan Elementary, but has returned to Haisley once again to be a proud Husky with her 2 boys, Isaiah - 1st grade and Manny - Young 5s. Looking forward to a great year!

I have been happily married to my wonderful husband, Frank (a math teacher at Skyline High School) since 2008. We have 2 amazing boys, Isaiah (7 yrs), and Manny (6 yrs), and Jillian (3 yrs). We are a busy family who is non-stop and loves to be active. The kids love to go to the Ann Arbor Hands On Museum, the Detroit Zoo and to watch sporting events. We all enjoy baseball and hockey and we are huge Michigan, Tigers, and Red Wings fans! We love to travel and have been many places in the U.S.. Mrs. Garcia's favorite place on Earth (so far) is Oahu, Hawaii! This summer we went to DisneyWorld!!!!! The kids love it and can't wait to go back. Jillian got to meet every Disney Princess she could. Mrs. Garcia also ran The Warrior Dash the 4th time! It was so much fun getting so messy. You should try it! I'll be posting some activities the family can enjoy together in case you need ideas :)
